With COVID-19 restrictions around the country having eased late in 2021, dance parties and music festivals resumed.

While many people were locked down, the production of new psychoactive substances (NPS) continued unabated.

The apparent reduction of MDMA (ecstasy) consumption in Australia combined with increased dance party activity could lead to an increase in the use of NPS.
