Assessing exposure to bushfire smoke and associated health risks
Globally, an increased number of major bushfire events are occuring. Bushfire smoke poses a substantial threat to human health. This project aims at determining the chemical compositions of bushfire smoke, how these emitted chemicals penetrate into nearby homes, and the association between acute bushfire smoke exposure and adverse health effects.
Scholarship value
As a scholarship recipient, you'll receive:
- living stipend of $33,641 per annum tax free (2024 rate), indexed annually

A working knowledge of human biomonitoring, mass spectrometry and trace organic analysis would be of benefit to someone working on this project.
The applicant will demonstrate academic achievement in the field(s) of environmental science and the potential for scholastic success.
A background or knowledge of chemical emissions from biomass burning is highly desirable.
