Understanding the vaping epidemic through novel integrative monitoring tool

QAEHS HDR Student Project

This project examined what happens when methamphetamine-contaminated building materials are painted or sealed, a process often called encapsulation. Using real-world data contaminated plasterboard, the study compared unpainted to painted material (Kilz oil-based and Kilz water-based) over a long duration (30m). The aim was to understand whether painting reduces the amount of methamphetamine available on the surface and whether methamphetamine can still slowly move out of the material into the air.
