Climate change is reshaping the environment in ways that affect human health. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, shifts in plant and animal diversity, and worsening air pollution are all altering what we breathe every day. This project investigates how these environmental changes contribute to allergic asthma.
We trace each step in the biological process: from what people are exposed to in their environment, through changes in the immune system, to airway inflammation and ultimate health outcome.
This approach, grounded in directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) and structural equation modelling, allows us to distinguish direct from indirect effects and to be explicit about our assumptions.
