Researcher biography
Nhan Nguyen is a doctoral researcher at the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS), The University of Queensland, working under the supervision of A/Prof. Phong Thai and Dr. Zhe Wang. Her current research applies wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) to the monitoring of illicit tobacco use in Australia, combining LC-MS/MS analytical chemistry with population-level exposure assessment.
Nhan holds a PhD in Horticulture from the University of the Sunshine Coast (2014–2017), where her research examined the effects of biochar on nitrogen dynamics in soil-plant cropping systems. She has since worked as a lecturer and researcher at Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, supervising undergraduate and master's research across environmental and agricultural sciences.
Her research interests span analytical chemistry, environmental monitoring, and the application of quantitative methods to public health and environmental problems.
