This research investigates how third-hand contamination in residential environments should be assessed and remediated, with particular consideration for methamphetamine and the differences between properties contaminated through smoking and clandestine manufacture. The work examines the contribution of airborne methamphetamine and inhalation exposure, evaluates the long-term effectiveness of paint encapsulation for contaminated plasterboard, and investigates the spatial distribution of methamphetamine within building materials using DESI-MSI. The research also aims to extend indoor-air monitoring to other contaminants through the passive sampling approaches.
