Daniel Francis
Daniel is an epidemiologist and manages the Health Surveillance team at the Metro North Public Health Unit in Brisbane. The Health Surveillance team provides epidemiological and data management expertise in support of both the operational, and the research activities of the Public Health Unit. The team is particularly focused on how new technologies and methods may be applied in public health practice and how we can utilise data to better understand the population we serve. As such, Daniel great values collaboration between academia and practitioners and he sees QAEHS as a wonderful opportunity for world class environmental health science research to intersect with those working on the frontline of health protection. In his role as a Queensland Health buddy he works with Dr Suzanne Huxley and the theme leader for Environmental Health Epidemiology, A/Prof Abdullah Mamun.
Daniel also has an interest in the development and evaluation of public health interventions and evidence synthesis methodologies for complex public health interventions. He is a contact editor for the Cochrane Public Health Group and is an author on several Cochrane reviews.
