Researcher biography

María José Gómez Ramos is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Almeria (Spain), with extensive background in organic and analytical chemistry. Maria Jose’s work has been mainly focused on developing new analytical methods based on mass spectrometry for the detection of target, non-target and unknown organic contaminants in different environmental, biological and food matrices. She has been responsible for key scientific discoveries including identifying novel and important chemicals of concern in human blood, food contact material and environmental samples.

Dr. Gómez Ramos is also an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Queensland, Australia, Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS).  She partners with QAEHS researchers on studies and research projects related with non-target analysis, including plastic food contact materials and PFAS.
