Researcher biography
Ian Zammit joined the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) in June 2023 to work on the Minderoo Foundation funded project dealing with Plastics and Human Health – working on analysing plastic additive chemicals in human samples. He was previously a Post-Doc Researcher at The Catalan Institute for Water Research, working on monitoring health status (consumption of pharmaceuticals & illicit drugs, COVID-19, etc.) in intra-urban communities through wastewater-based epidemiology. He defended his Ph. D. from the University of Salerno in December 2019, with a project on antibiotic resistance mitigation on wastewater reuse in agricultural irrigation. Ian also holds a M. Sc. in Environmental Sciences from Stockholm University and a B. Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Malta.
