Researcher biography

Dr Leisa-Maree Toms is an Associate Professor in the School of Public Health and Social Work, Faculty of Health, QUT. She has 20 years of research experience within the field of Environmental Toxicology and Biomonitoring and has taught at QUT and The University of Queensland in the areas of environmental health, environmental toxicology and risk assessment. Dr Toms' primary research focus is on monitoring persistent organic environmental pollutants in the Australian population.

Leisa has worked at and then with QAEHS since 2003, predominantly with Prof Jochen Mueller and many others. Leisa has co-supervised numerous PhD students with QAEHS academics and is currently on two NHMRC and two ARC grants with QAEHS partners.
