Researcher biography

Julia completed her Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours at the University of Queensland in 2024. Within her Honours research, she assessed spatial variations in PFAS concentrations within pooled sera from inland, coastal, and island communities, and also participated in a Winter Research Program where she investigated the association between serum PFAS concentrations and cholesterol biomarkers in pooled sera. She has also worked on several human biomonitoring projects of a similar nature as a research assistant at QAEHS since 2021. Julia is now undertaking a PhD aiming to assess the representativeness of environmental contaminant concentrations measured in pooled de-identified surplus pathology samples by comparing to samples representative of the Australian population.
