Dr Quoc Phuong (Jeremy) Tran

Researcher biography
Dr Quoc Phuong (Jeremy) Tran is an analytical chemist with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research spanning synthetic biology, prebiotic chemistry, and neuroscience. Jeremy completed his PhD in Chemistry at the University of New South Wales, where he investigated nonlinear and far-from-equilibrium chemical processes that may have contributed to the origins of life on Earth. His experiments explored autocatalytic and feedback-driven reaction networks using techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, HPLC, LC-MS, and fluorescence microscopy. In 2025, he joined Neuroscience Research Australia to investigate the effects of microplastics and plastic-derived chemicals on neurodegenerative diseases and to optimise methods for their detection in biological samples.
