Researcher biography
Christine completed a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Queensland in 2010. Since graduating she has accumulated greater than 15 years' experience in environmental management, environmental monitoring and contaminated land whilst working in industry and as a consultant. Driven by an apparent life-long desire to learn and build more technical skills, she completed a Graduate Diploma of Environmental Health at the Queensland University of Technology in 2021 and in late 2025 joined the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) as a PhD student. Leveraging and building on the knowledge and experience gained in industry and in the consulting world, Christine will be undertaking research on the project – ‘Chemicals in compostable packaging materials: presence, persistence, and circular chemistry’. This project will be investigating the chemicals in our waste compostable packaging, assessing what happens to them during the composting process, and determining what impacts they might have to human health and the environment.
