
Joyce obtained a Bachelor of Forensic Science (Chemistry and Molecular Biology) from Griffith University. Following this, she worked in a commercial testing laboratory performing environmental and food analysis. She subsequently pursued research training at Griffith University (Honours degree) and is currently completing her PhD study at The University of Queensland. Her doctoral research focuses on treatment response in uveal melanoma (rare melanoma originating in the eye). Joyce joined QAEHS in 2026 as a Senior Research Assistant/Analyst, where she will contribute to the Minderoo Centre project focused on the detection of microplastics in biological samples.
