Angus Bagley

Angus attained his Bachelor in Biomedical Sciences (majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology, with minors in Infectious Diseases and Biochemistry) through the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2019. Following this, he completed a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree through QUT’s Tissue Repair and Translational Physiology (TRTP) group in 2022, which aimed to establish a biomarker panel for assessing the health and status of chronic non-healing wounds utilising advanced bioinformatic statistical modelling.

Following on from his studies, Angus worked as a research assistant on a defence-funded project assessing biomarkers of human stress (mental and physical) utilising biofluid samples of sweat, saliva, and blood. Upon completion of this role in mid-2023, he started as a senior research analyst within QAEHS as a member of the Minderoo team looking at identifying microplastics within human blood, urine, and brain tissue. Additional to this role, Angus was in charge of maintaining the Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry systems, and developing methods of size separating plastic particles utilising Asymmetrical Flow-Field-Flow (AF4) techniques.

At the start of 2026, Angus commenced his PhD journey, with aims of assessing the health impacts of PFAS chemicals within Airservice Australia firefighter serum collected over the past decade through metabolomic and bioinformatic techniques.
