Phil works in Queensland Health’s Health Protection Branch as a senior environmental health scientist in the Water Unit. His background is in molecular biology and environmental chemistry.

Phil is heavily involved in the day to day operations of wastewater surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 in Queensland, and also contributes to national activities in this space. He is also involved in various other public health and environmental health issues around water in Queensland.

As a former postdoctoral research fellow at QAEHS, Phil maintains a keen interest in research. His adjunct position with QAEHS allows him to be involved in exciting research in his research interests, which include wastewater based epidemiology triangulation, environmental chemistry, sewer surveillance for SARS-CoV-2, and analytical chemistry methods.
