Understanding Microplastics: The need for further research on health impacts

Researchers from the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences and Minderoo Centre – Plastics and Human Health, including Prof Kevin Thomas, Dr Cassie Rauert and cosignee Dr Elvis Okoffo, along with a number of international collaborators have authored a Nature comment piece on the need for further research on the health impacts of the presence of microplastics in human tissues and bodily fluids. The piece calls for better standards, transparency and collaboration among researchers in order to define the possible health risks of microplastics.
