Research highlights that cleaner healthcare environments lead to fewer healthcare associated infections (the infections people get whilst in hospital). With Australia now using 2 million hospital bed days a year for healthcare associated infections and antibiotic resistance becoming an ever increasing problem we need to become smarter at preventing infections in the first place. This research explores if mobile phones act as reservoirs for microbes and if current UV-C cleaning devices are an effective solution.
