Researcher biography

Dr Ester is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences, the University of Queensland. She studied a Bachelor degree in Chemistry (2014) and a Master degree in Experimental Techniques in Chemistry (2015), both of them at the University of Valencia, Spain. Then, she did a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and Environment at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. During her PhD she was focussed on developing analytical methodologies for the analysis of illicit drugs and psychoactive substances in wastewater, sediments and biota to study their occurrence, consumption, and environmental impact. She took part in the Spanish Network of Wastewater Based Epidemiology (ESAR-NET) with whom she carried out the first national studio of alcohol consumption using the WBE approach in Spain. After finishing her PhD, she worked at the Catalonian Antidoping Laboratory for two years.
