Calibration of air and water samplers for the detection of pesticides used for locust control

This study includes calibrating and validating passive water and air samplers to monitor pesticides used to control locust in Australia. The study will involve laboratory calibration of aquatic passive samplers (EDs and PDMSs) and laboratory spiking tests of PUF passive air samplers. The study includes method validation for chemical fixation on the sampling mediums, chemical extraction and clean up and instrumental analysis. Analytical method development and validation will be performed, and calibration data and modelling will be assessed to determine the appropriate model for calculating pesticide concentration estimates from the passive samplers.

The work will result in calibrated passive sampling technologies to monitor pesticides in the field.

Grant Support
