Tim ReeksHow long have you worked at QAEHS?

2 years 8 months.

How do you explain your job to people?

I tend to say I am a scientist that looks for drugs in wastewater. A few people have commented ‘you must be reeeeaally addicted to drugs to be looking for them in wastewater’.

What is your favourite thing about working at QAEHS?

I like the people I work with and I like the work.

What is something you learned in the last week?

My cat is an angel compared to Jack’s (my colleague).

What has been your career path that led to your current position at QAEHS?

Medical Technology Degree at South Aust Uni; dropped out 2nd year => Australian Army 11 years => Own business about 5 years; destroyed by Keating’s recession => Oil Transport Contract Supervisor about 10 years => Science Degree QUT => Honours QIMR => PhD UQ => RA QBI UQ.

What is your favourite movie?

Doctor Zhivago.

Random fact you would like to share about yourself.

I had a bad experience with a marble when I was very young.
