Dr Elvis Okoffo, QAEHS Research Fellow, was recently invited to attend the MOMENTUM 3.0 Project meeting in Bilthoven, the Netherlands. The stakeholder meeting focused on strengthening international collaboration and launching the MOMENTUM Collaborative Network to accelerate research, innovation and evidence-based policy on microplastics and human health. Dr Okoffo gave a keynote address that provided valuable insights into the sources of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) and their risks.

Elvis noted that: It was a privilege to be invited to speak at the MOMENTUM 3.0 stakeholder meeting and to engage with leading international researchers working to better understand the health impacts of micro- and nanoplastics. The meeting highlighted the importance of global collaboration in advancing analytical methods, strengthening risk assessment, and translating scientific evidence into practical solutions that help protect human health. I look forward to continuing these collaborations as we work towards addressing one of the world's emerging environmental and public health challenges.

MOMENTUM 3.0 is an international research collaboration led by Utrecht University that brings together researchers, health experts, government agencies and industry partners to better understand the health risks of micro- and nanoplastics. The project aims to improve methods for assessing human exposure and health effects, strengthen scientific evidence for risk assessment, and identify practical strategies to reduce exposure, particularly through indoor environments.
