In addition, two posters were displayed from Ben, Plastics in biosolids: impacts from infrastructure materials and global release estimates and Evaluating the impact of regulatory and clinical changes on opioid consumption using wastewater-based epidemiology.

Dr O’Brien commented, “since the Testing the Waters conferences launched in 2013, it is great to see how rapidly the field has evolved. It also surprises me how quickly wastewater-based epidemiology has moved from research only into a surveillance strategy which now informs both policing and public health policy in many countries.”  Dr Bade added, “it was great to catch up with so many international colleagues and discuss the field and potential new angles to pursue.”

Testing the Waters 7 will be held in Lisbon in 2024.
