A cohort of QAEHS staff and students attended the recent SETAC Asia-Pacific 14th Biennial Meeting in Tianjin, China. QAEHS student Jinglong Li was the recipient of the SETAC Asia-Pacific Student Research Grant, which provides one award to support SETAC Asia-Pacific students to broaden their opportunities for research in Asia-Pacific countries with funding of $2,500.

Jinglong commented: "I am incredibly honoured to receive the SETAC Asia-Pacific Student Research Grant, especially as the sole recipient this year. This recognition not only validates the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my research but also highlights the growing importance of environmental toxicology and chemistry in addressing global challenges. The SETAC conference was an invaluable opportunity to connect with leading experts, exchange ideas, and gain fresh perspectives on advancing sustainability through science. I am excited to continue contributing to this important field and look forward to applying what I’ve learned to future research endeavours."

QAEHS student Ken Tang was also awarded during the conference as one of three winners for the Best Student Oral Presentation Awards for his presentation on Plastic-related oligomers migrated from single and multilayer breast milk storage bags. Ken enjoyed the conference stating: "I really enjoyed the conference, especially meeting former PhD students from QAEHS and connecting with several professors working in my field—there’s potential for some exciting collaborations. One professor even drew similar conclusions to mine, which was a great support to my findings. Winning the Best Oral Presentation Award for the Asia-Pacific region, with only three winners, made the experience even more rewarding."
