The December cover of Nature Water features the National survey of the occurrence of antimicrobial agents in Australian wastewater and their socioeconomic correlates article, authored by QAEHS PhD student Jinglong Li along with co-authors Dr Jake O’Brien, Dr Ben Tscharke, Dr Chang He, Dr Katja Shimko, Xueting Shao, Naixiang Zhai, Prof Jochen Mueller and Prof Kevin Thomas.
The study investigated the use of antimicrobials and their transformation products in raw wastewater samples from wastewater treatment plants across Australia, encompassing ~50% of the national population. The study offers insight in population level patterns of antimicrobial use in Australia.
